spidermonkey Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Hi All Could anyone please tell me what could be causeing this fault codeP0605 Internal Control Module Read Only Memory (ROM) Error Car is a 2000 seat alhambra 19tdi 110 Car just cuts out at idle but has no problem re-starting also has done this while driving but cutout then just goes again. Your help would be most appreciated CheersSteve Quote
seatkid Posted January 29, 2012 Report Posted January 29, 2012 Has the ECU been remapped or re flashed at any time? It means the internal program is corrupt either due to component failure, a dry joint or someone messing about remapping. Try resetting the fault with VAGCOM, it may have been a transient fault. spidermonkey Posted February 14, 2012 Author Report Posted February 14, 2012 Hi Seatkid The car had be chipped but when the fault occured the chip was removed and faults where reset, but the problem still happens. Cheers Steve Quote
nicebutdim Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 I'm very interested in this as my Gal has had this fault for about 2 years now. Same code that keeps reappearing after being cleared and brief engine cut outs, sometimes at idle resulting in stall and sometimes when driving where the revs will recover. Occasionally it won't happen for weeks and then it does it 2 or 3 times in a day. How would we go about geting the ecu remapped? As far as I know mine hasn't been chipped, it was owned by a vicar before me but I have a feeling that even he couldn't exorcise some of the demons living in it! :) Quote
spidermonkey Posted February 15, 2012 Author Report Posted February 15, 2012 I have done some research on the Net (dangers i know) with this fault code, it has been indercated on other cars that it could be the small vac hose that goes to to ecu,is this possible on the galaxy/alahamra? Hi NicebutdimNot sure on the remap think you can get this done at demon tweaks and place like that.As for the chip(remap) i had it was external chip which took 30mins to fit and set up (not sure it was worth it now) RegardsSteve Quote
gregers Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 P0604 FORD - Internal Control Module Random Access Memory Error [/url] 0 Comments | Add Comment Symptoms- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) - Engine may not start Possible causes- ECM Harness power supply circuit is open or shorted - ECM Programing - Faulty ECM Possible solution- Resecure ECM connectors - Reprogram ECM - Replaced ECM Tech notesCheck the ECM fuse, if fuse is OK try erasing the code first and if the code comes back you may have to reprogram or replaced the ECM. P0604 FORD Description The ECM continuously monitors its own internal memory status, internal circuits, and output signals transmitted to the throttle actuator. This self-check insures that the ECM is functioning properly. If any malfunction is detected, the ECM will set the code and illuminate the engine light. When is the code detected?Indicates the ECM has experienced an internal memory fault. Quote
nicebutdim Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 I haven't had the warning light come on so the code doesn't always cause that. Galaxies and Alhumbras have a vac hose from the inlet to the ecu and a small section within the ecu, but this wouldn't cause a ROM fault. I had my ecu out to replace the vacuum lines and funnily enough for a short while after the stalling stopped. It could be the connector block needs cleaning for the loom into the ecu. Regarding the remapping, would Demon Tweeks or similar be able to remap the original software/settings? I feel it's like there is a missing section of information on the ecu's software. What gets me is that there is no set of circumstances that bring on the stalling of hesitation, and I can't make it do it either! ;) Quote
spidermonkey Posted February 16, 2012 Author Report Posted February 16, 2012 Mine does not always have the light come on ether. From my understanding the remap the OE settings but you can get options where you can get the OE and remaped settings and if they are really good they will rollin road the car to set up properlly. My Alhambra suffers hesitation from 2000rpm till around 2900/3000 all the time but never know when it will cut out  Quote
